Motorcyclist Safety Improved by Signing Up For CMSP
Motorcyclist safety is very important to us. We believe the CMSP is an important training program to ensure motorcycle riders understand safety issues while driving. If you’re in an motorcycle accident in California, having obtained a motorcycle endorsement on your California driver license could assist your case.
The CHP recently released a statement strongly encouraging all Motorcycle riders to sign up for the CMSP.
“The Motorcyclist Training Course (MTC) is a 15 hour course which includes 5-hours of classroom instruction and 10-hours of actual riding. The MTC is mandatory for those under the age of 21, but is also recommended to those 21 and older who are seeking to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on their California driver license. The CMSP also offers the Premier Program which is an extended MTC consisting of 7.5-hours of classroom and 13.5-hours of riding.”
This is an excellent program. Almost a million motorcycle riders have received training at one of the CMSP’s 120 training sites throughout California since the program began.
Also, upon successful completion of the CMSP Motorcyclist Training Course students will receive a DMV DL389 certificate that may waive the riding skills test requirement at the DMV.
Another great reason to take the test is a possible insurance discount. You should verify any possible discounts with your insurance company first however. Motorcycle insurance can be expensive so every and any discount is and should be pursued.
